In a city-to-city comparison, India had one-sixth the Alzheimer's as the USA. The researchers said, "the lower prevalence of Alzheimer's in India is generally attributed to the turmeric consumption as a part of curry." What is the science behind this claim?

The average Indian dies 12 years earlier than the average American (66 years vs 78 years). This can be the reason for the difference.
ReplyDeleteIn this great video, they shows that forty percent of population do not eat any type of meat, and the others 60% eat poultry, etc., only once a week.
ReplyDeleteWe have to consider that the population of the studies in the videos does regular exercises, once they have or use to walk moderate to long distances or use bikes, etc. And the average weight of such populations are in normal levels, once is very rare to see someone there with huge obesity,or overweight. The interesting is that the study was made based in low to moderate curry ingestion (once to three times a week), and as we knows, the amounts of turmeric (and mainly of curcumin)in the"mix of spices" in curry, it is not so high as in pure turmeric.Maybe the "mix of spices" in curry gives synergistic antioxidant effects between the spices. But considering theirs healthy life style, with normal average body weight, the exercises(walks, bike, etc.), the low ingestion of fats in meats, the high ingestion of vegetables, and at last but not at least, the spices,we can observe that maybe the "whole thing", of healthy foods, exercises, normal weight and spices are doing together "the job", to lowers the numbers of dementia cases...
