Why do you keep running these promotions for this nonsense about coconut oil as an Alzheimer's miracle drug? So far there's just been unsubstantiated anecdotal claims, most of it originating with Pat Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network which has been touting the story that Dr. Mary Newport has been promoting in book sales and elsewhere about feeding coconut oil to her Alzheimer's afflicted husband. The Alzheimer's Association has noted that these claims have been circulating for several years and, no doubt, thousands, if not millions, of people have tried coconut oil. If there were anything to the claims, we'd all be dancing in the streets on our way to buy coconut oil. But finally there is a study that just began at the Byrd Alzheimer's Institute in Florida. I reported on all this on my blog -- http://bit.ly/UKKbsb

I tried that URL and it says that blog has been removed. Why is that?
DeleteJohn- you are soooo wrong. It does help older people w and w/o Alzheimers to function better and enjoy a higher quality of life.
ReplyDeleteA very happy user.....
Great! I take 5-HTP and get a higher quality life from it. After touting it to family and friends I found no one else was getting the results I was. Since then, I've been careful to say "This works for me. It doesn't seem to do much for others." My research show some scientific studies that indicate 5-HTP may help people like me who have Parkinson's. I've seen much less scientific evidence supporting the claims for coconut oil and Alzheimer's and, as the Alzheimer's Association has pointed out, the absence if documented positive results from all the people who must tried it suggest that it's not the miracle drug being touted by people who are making money by raising false hopes. It's the hucksters who trouble me. Not people like you who are getting some benefit from it. Hundreds of dietary supplements are out there on the market and probably a few people benefit from them. But the vast majority of us would be better off looking at our diets and exercise for help.
